A Lamb Goes BAAAAAAAAAH

     The Baader-Meinhof phenomenon - a phenomenon described as the experience of learning about a word, fact, phrase or a certain phenomenon for the first time and then encountering it again soon after. According to this theory, after encountering a ‘concept’, the concept begins to float to the surface of the collective consciousness and manifest itself in different people/things at the same time, leading to this effect. According to the always-reliable Wikipedia.com, the phenomenon is a result of our limited perception of our surroundings.  

     Though my social life and mental incapacitates have historically prohibited me from applying intricate psychological theories to my everyday life, I feel there is no other way to accurately describe what I’ve recently experienced, therefore the lackluster psychological application begins.

     Relationships and Love. Let’s start with the basics. Love is thought to be one of the most desirable communion you can share with another individual. Philosophically speaking, Love is considered a virtue representing all kindness, compassion and affection. Love is central to many religions, and has been the basis of countless poorly directed films and horribly written novels, all of which I have allowed to create these nauseating and repulsive boundaries by which I assume love is somehow suppose to fall within. “Titanic”, “The Notebook”, “Grease” - all movies I individually place blame on for my current thinking that a man would sacrifice his life to ensure I was happy. Titanic, really? Let’s be honest, if any one of my ex’s was in Leo’s position, they would have knocked my ass off that floating door and forced me to hold it steady. And Ryan Gosling? Come on. If I could even get a boyfriend to return a single text message after 7:34 pm on a weekday, let alone write me a letter everyday for years professing his love, I’d marry him without thinking twice. Grease, that’s not even a film worth discussing considering my current emotional state. Though I’d love to continue blaming my humiliating relational history on Hollywood and the mainstream media, for self-esteem and moral purposes, it’s best to move forward.

Yesterday he sent me a link to an article where a Japanese Tourism Agency wants to hand out 10,000 free flights to Japan to potential travelers who will showcase Japan via social media to boost their economy post earthquake/nuclear disasters.  He told me I should apply because he knows that:

1) I want to go back badly - especially after my amazing 3 months there while in college

2) I’m constantly on Tumblr, Twitter, FB - all these social media sites

3) I just LOVE all things Japanese =)
